Hayden's First Christmas

This Christmas was so much fun. It was Hayden's very first Christmas, he was very excited. He wasn't excattly sure what what happening but knew it was something fun. This year we spend Christmas with my family. Christmas Eve was at Grandma Eckersell's house we have singing, story time, and then a white elephant exchange.

He loved it when we would all sing.

Christmas Morning at Grandpa Craig's and Grandma Paula's: Most of the Family was able to come home. Adriann, Collin, Garrett, Gabrielle, Patrick, Cortney, (Bun in the oven), Mike, And our family. We missed Jennifer, and Adam's family this year.

We all had a wonderful Christmas. The next day we headed to Fruitland to see all of Brian's family. The majority of Brian's siblings were there it was great to spend time with them.

Well an up date for the Last two months.

Well our last post wasn't very happy, but we are just grateful that everyone is healthy and happy. Brian is done with Harvest and we are so happy they asked him to stay on full time. So glad he didn't have to start looking for a new job. Brian has finished his secondary applications for medical school and we are just waiting to hear on interviews.
Hayden is doing great he is getting so big at his 9 month app. he was 19.3 lbs and 29 inches long. He is growing like a weed. He has 6 teeth and another one is on the way. He is such a happy little boy and is into everything. We are so excited to celebrate Hayden's first Christmas.
In November we had Thanksgiving dinner at my Grandparents house. Hayden loved all the food. Then we celebrated my 26th birthday, we went swimming at green canyon it was so much fun to go swim Annie and her family, my dad, and Rachelle and Randy came. My mother got their later so she didn't swim with us. Then we had mud pie at Grandma's house. Then Happy Birthday Lerin we bought you a new car happen I love my new car we purchased a 2004 honda accord.
I can't believe this semester is almost over, only two more semesters to go and I graduate!!! Christmas shopping is in the works still. Brian and I will hopefully finish on Saturday. We love you all and hope you are doing well, Hopefully we get to see most of you for the holiday season.

Saturday night while Brian was driving home he dozed off and woke up to find himself almost slamming into the back of a suburban. He swerved missed the other car and ended up rolling the civic. He managed to only walk away with a few scrapes and of course being a bit sore. Cindy the civic did not fair very well. We went to see the damage to my car and here are a few pictures.

We put a tarp on it becuase it was raining all day.

Brian's Birthday

Conference was this past Sunday Hayden was playing with his toys and they started singing I am a Child of God and he froze and just stared at the TV till the song was over. Oct 2 was also Brian's birthday he turned 26. We had a combine birthday party with my cousin's daughter Andria. We had dinner at my mom's house and had a mustache party. Then we had cake Brian wanted a cookie dough cake, (idea inspired by his sister Marie). And Andria had a chocolate pecan cake. I also made a mud pie it was all so good.

Then my Grandparents gave him some spatulas and a grill basket. He is now ready for me to teach him how to grill haha!

September and October

Hayden is such a happy little boy and we are so happy to have him in our family. Here are some things that we have been up to for the past few months.

Brian got the day off early and it was still pretty warm outside so we decided to take over to the splash park. He loves the water. Here he is in the stroller all ready to go with his cool shades on.

Evelyn Brian's niece came to play one day while her parents went to the temple. Hayden had so much fun following her around. I don't think she liked my camera very much though I didn't get any pictures of her smiling

As most of you know Hayden LOVES! the bath. Its his favorite time of day. I just turn on the water and he heads for the bathroom. We have to keep that door shut now because he heads for it all the time and likes to get the plunger and in the garbabge. I thought I would share some cute internet approved pictures of bath time.

Hayden has been exploring all sorts of new things. He has learned to crawl all over he likes to crawl into his excersaucer, but until just recently he couldn't get back out. Brian thinks it fun to take pictures of Hayden getting stuck. So here are some fun places Hayden has gotten stuck.

Brian and Hayden Crashed last Sunday on the couch it was so cute I thought I needed to share.

Brian got some new fun things these last few weeks. My sisters had gotten me a highchair but it had some problems so we returned it and got a new one. This is the new highchair. He loves it!

Hayden has also been growing so much that he has almost out grown his infant carseat so we have been looking and finally invested in a new carseat. It is so comfy and soft. We tried it out for the first time yesterday and he loved it.

We have been having some fun over here in eastern Idaho on labor day Brian had the day off so we took full advantage of that. We started the day by heading to the Bodies exhibit at the Idaho Museum. It was so fun, and a wonderful learning experience. Hayden even enjoyed looking at everything. After that Brian really wanted to take Hayden swimming because he has never gotten to swim with him. So we were going to go to the new Rexburg Rapids but it was a little cold so we headed up to Green Canyon. Hayden had so much fun, he loves the water he kicks and kicks and tries so hard to swim. Later that night Uncle Dale arrived at our house to spend a few days before he moved into his apartment. We took that couple of days and Hayden and I ran around with Dale and got him some final things that he needed for school. We are kind of sad though Brian started working longer days now and is gone most of the day we only get to see him for a couple hours a night, but we are grateful for the job and the income. School begins again for me next week I will be in night classes and my mother has graciously volunteered to come and keep Hayden while I'm in class. I am very excited to start classes, but also hate having to be away from Hayden for that long. I will miss bed time routine. Good thing I do not have very much longer till I am finished with school :). We love and miss seeing you all!!!

Graduation!!!

This July it was fun graduation time at our house. Brian graduated from BYU-Idaho with a bachelors in Biology, with an emphasis in neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry. He is now in process of applying for medical school. So he will be working for the next year until we get accepted and find out where we are going. Brian is working for Walker farms as a mechanic, and is loving it. Hayden and I are so proud of him and all his hard work. He is such a good daddy and provider.
I graduated with my associates degree but I am still continuing on and will graduate with my BA next July. So yay for me only 3 semesters left.

Brian was asked to give the invocation at the Commencement ceremony. He is sitting behind and to the left of President Clark. He is the tall one ha ha.

This is the only picture I got of Brian receiving his folder he booked it across the stage and then looked at the back the whole time. I told him next time he needs to look at me.

This is my cousin's husband Jake my uncle Clair, (Brian's advisor), and Brian. Brian and Jake graduated in the same area of study.

Hayden crashed, thanks Papa Craig for taking him so I could stay in the graduation.

Hayden's First 4th of July
This July was so much fun, It was Hayden's first 4th of July he loved the Parade, big thanks to aunt Jenn for letting him use baby Thomas's Hat because it stayed on so much better than his own. Then later that night we headed to cousin Rod's house and then watched the fireworks at the Green belt. Hayden watched most of the fireworks then rolled over in my arms and fell asleep.

This was Hayden's first time at the splash park, we went with Grandma Paula and cousins. He loves the water.

Grandpa Craig and Grandma Paula invited us to ride with them to Utah to go to the Zoo. We met Annie and her family and Jennifer and her kids came. Annie also brought my Uncle Terry's kids. IT was so much fun to see Hayden with the animals. There was a gorilla that came right up to the glass to Hayden and his eyes got so big.

Christensen Family Reunion

The end of July Brian's brother Paul was married to a darling girl Bryndy in the Rexburg temple (thanks guys for not making my family travel so far haha). We had so much fun dancing at the reception. Friday through Sunday we traveled to Logan canyon and attended the Christensen Family reunion. Saturday we were able to go to Bear Lake it was not very warm but the kids still wanted to swim so we tested the water. We didn't take Hayden in I thought it was too cold, but those good daddys and Dale still too the kids swimming.

Well our little family has been busy and my friend informed me that I have not updated my blog in a very long time. In June we traveled to Oregon to baby Thomas's blessing and then spent a few days at the Oregon coast with my family. It was so much fun to play on the beach and just relax in the house. This was Hayden's first big trip he did great on the drive and we were so happy to have Becca with us, she made the drive go by so fast! While we were there many of the members of my family decided to go deep sea fishing. I did not partake because I get car sick and decided that would not be a good idea. Brian went and loved it. Sad for the girls that went Jennifer, Annie, and Cortney all threw up at least once. All my nephews loved fishing, Evan caught the most fish out of everyone. On the way home we stopped by Multnomah falls I haven't seen in about 7 years.

I found this very funny and so did Brian I was counting our change jar and started putting back in the jar as I was dropping in the coins Hayden started giggling. He has been pretty hard to get to giggle, (guess we just aren't that funny), Well, I looked over and noticed he would laugh every time I would drop money in. He was giggling really hard before but we caught a bit on a video for all of you.

Update

Well things have been kind of busy over here, Brian and I are still trying to get the hang of this parent thing. Its a good thing Hayden is a good baby because he puts up with all of our crap haha. We had so much fun traveling down to Utah for my brother-in-law Collin's 30th Birthday party. We went down and shopped and played, it was also nice to get out of town for a weekend. Garrett and Gaby were such good helpers with Hayden, they loved feeding him and holding him.

At the end of the month Brian traveled over to Fruitland for his bother Dale's graduation. Hayden and I didn't get to go because I had class. Brian is busy finishing his application for medical school and also he is ready to have a break from school and just work and be a dad.

Also babies number 4 and 5 are here Thomas Reynold Gardner was born on the 10th of May 2011 and Carsten David Kent was born on the 4th June 2011.

Trying New Things

Recently we decided to try Hayden with some cereal. He did pretty good for his first time. Brian had a harder time feeding him but he was really good for me. Here are some pictures of him having cereal for the first time and a movie.

Easter Sunday

We were so excited to celebrate Hayden's first Easter. We were a little stumped at first as to what to get our little boy. We finally pulled things together and found some fun things for the Easter bunny to leave our family. Below are some fun pics of our Sunday.

These are our "Easter Baskets" I couldn't find any baskets that I thought were worth purchasing so I figured I could be forgiven this year. Brian got some nice new fitted dress shirts, and I got some new sandals for summer.

This is Hayden's haul. I got a little carried away with things I couldn't resist. We decided Hayden needed his first swimming suit since we live only a block from the splash park. He also got some cute clothes, two books and two fun toys. He really likes the rattle we bought him.

This is Brian carrying Hayden in to the living room so he could see what the Easter bunny left him. He wasn't really very interested in looking that direction.

He did like to chew on his tooth soothing toy, and his dad helped put it in his mouth right away.

We also got him sunglasses because he doesn't like the sun very much. He hasn't seen very much of it since he's been born.

I picked out the shorts and the jeans that you see in the next pic and Brian said he needed the shirt with a tie on it for church :) He looks so cute in it.

These are the first three of our Eckersell baby boom. Hayden was born on Feb 2, Maybri was born March 2, and Little Eli joined the family on April 5. This was the first time they have all been together since Eli was born so we decided we needed to take a pic.

Hayden of course was the only one that was awake at the moment. Luckily he was a happy boy. Brian was playing with him and getting him to smile really big. He was making the cutest noises.

Last weekend was Hayden's first long car of many to come. Friday after Brian's last final we got in the car and headed to Boise. We weren't sure how Hayden was going to do since this was the longest car ride he has been on to date. He slept most of the way till his mama woke him up to eat. He did great this trip we stayed with Patrick and Cortney in their new house it was so much fun to get to hang out with them, and of course have the help with the baby. Cortney loves babies and does whatever she can to help. She was awesome. While we were there we were able to see Brian's family. We hung out with his parents and siblings Saturday night and Sunday. Brian's grandparents finally got the opportunity to meet our cute baby boy. On Monday we said good-bye to Pat and Cortney and also stopped by Aunt Lucy's so we were able to see Aunt Lucy, Lucy and Steve, Patrick was sleeping when we got there. Aunt Lucy made us the most beautiful afghan. (Thanks aunt Lucy). Then Hayden did awesome again and slept most of the way home until we hit Fort Hall and he blew out this pants. We stopped at the reservation and changed him we bought some drinks on our way out because the cashiers were giving us funny looks.

This week has been a little stressful as Brian was preparing to take the MCAT. Didn't help that I got sick on Thursday night and Friday night my mom offered to come help with Hayden so I could sleep. That way Brian could go up to school and not feel guilty leaving my at home with the baby. I thought I was better on Saturday so I headed to my mom's to see
Annie and her family. Brian finished the MCAT which he feels he did well on (here's hoping). Then Andria and Becca watched Hayden for us so we could go to dinner just the two of us. It was so nice to just be together alone for a bit. Thanks Andria and Becca! Then Brian and I woke up Sunday morning sick and decided not to attend church. So health center Monday morning here we come. Hayden doesn't have it yet (knock on wood) so we are not just going to power through it. So hopefully we get feeling better soon at our house. Brian and I also start school on Tuesday we are excited but nervous at the same time. We are balancing baby this semester so well see how things go. Well I figured I'd update everyone on what is going on with our little family. Hayden is growing so fast and has his two month check up tomorrow I can't wait to see how big they say he is. He can roll over from his stomach to his back without help. This makes tummy time hard becuase sometimes he doesn't like to stay on his belly. He is also smiles all the time when we talk to him.
This is Brian's last week of school for the semester. He is ready for at least a little break. Then we will both be starting back to school for the spring semester. Brian and I will be graduating in July Brian with his Bachelors and me with my Associates. Then we play the waiting game and see if Brian get accepted to a medical school.
We are so grateful for all of our blessing and wonderful family and all their support. We love you all!

Hayden's Blessing Day

Today was Hayden's blessing we were so happy to have so many family members able to make it. Adrianne was so kind to grab our camera and take some pictures for us.

Later that night back at home after the party. Mom and dad did one of Hayden's favorite things, getting rubbed with lotion. He just laid there all relaxed and stretched out.

Still our long and skinny baby. But he is starting to gain weight so he is looking more filled out now.

This past week was very busy at our house. Jennifer and her family came to Idaho on wed and of course baby and I spent as much time with them as possible. Then Thursday night Adrianne and her family joined us. I love having my family here they are so much fun. Then Friday Patrick and Cortney showed up, it was Garrett's birthday so we of course had to have a party. We had pizza and did presents and cake. He loved every minute of it. We also celebrated Cortney's birthday which is next week. Then Saturday we had a wonderful opportunity to go to a women's conference in the BYU-Idaho center. This conference was just for the Rigby South Stake but then got expanded to 25 stakes. My mother and the rest of the Stake relief society presidency put this crazy thing together. Sister Julie Beck came and spoke and my sisters and I were also invited to her special training. It was amazing. That night Brian, Hayden, and I headed to to Blackfoot to see the majority of Brain's family. We are so happy so many of them were able to come. Thanks Rachel for putting everyone up at your house. Then back home where we had Kurt and Verna stay the night with us. So Grandma could get in some time with baby alone. Then Sunday of course was the blessing at 9:30 in the morning. We were sad Jennifer and her family had to leave right after the sacrament. After a sad goodbye then it was off to lunch where my parents hosted a luncheon for us, because we could not fit that many people in our little apartment. All things must come to an end and Adrianne and Patrick and their families headed to their homes. Following them all the Christensen clan headed out.

Hayden's Blessing

We are blessing Hayden on February 27 at 9:30 AM. Our church building is the 9th stake center down the road from the temple. Not the one right next to it, but farther west down the hill.

Simplest way there from the highway: Take the south exit (Exit 332), turn right, stay in right lane and cross RR tracks going straight through the light. Follow the road up and over the hill, University villiage is on the right, our building is on the left.

We will be in the north chapel (under the steeple), and will be having a luncheon after sacrament meeting at my parents' house in Rigby. We love you all and would love to see you there.

Hayden Loves Bath Time

Today we took Hayden to get his newborn pictures done. He did so good and was so mellow. So when I get them back I'll post some so you can see how cute our boy is.

Hayden's umbilical cord finally fell off so now he can have a real bath. I have given him a few baths but Brian hasn't been part of the fun since Hayden's first bath in the hospital. So we waited for bath time 'til daddy got home from lab.

Brian thought this was funny to put the wash cloth on Hayden's head I don't think he liked it too much.

Mom got to put lotion on Brian was a little nervous to do this because you have to be quick or you could get a little something extra coming your way :)

He did not want clothes back on. just like being in his diaper.

We Have a Baby Boy!!

It's true, We are officially parents now.

Lerin went in for her 41 week appointment on Wednesday morning and Dr. Leavitt sent her over to the hospital to get checked in and that he would be over at about 5 o' clock. Thankfully, Paula went with her and then stayed through the evening with us. I had class that I was told to go to, so I did that for most of the day.

After she got checked in and upstairs, (about 12:30 or so) the nurses (with help from the anesthesiologist) got her started on a pitocin drip. When I got there after 3, she was still going on it and had only progressed a little bit more, but her contractions were getting stronger.

When Dr. Leavitt came in around 5 and broke her water, things really started moving. Lerin made it up to a 4 before they gave her the epidural (the guy did an amazing job!) and was progressing slowly until her cousins Rachelle and Stephanie stopped by for a visit and made her laugh, then she was at an 8: after only one hour!

After that, things went pretty well. But to make a long story short: Hayden Craig Christensen was born at 11:34 pm on February 2, 2011. He weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces and was 22 1/2 inches long! He instantly won our hearts and is just a cute little boy that rarely fusses and just makes everyone smile.

Lerin is doing fine, but she is currently just taking it easy and trying to get recovered quickly. We're excited to have him here and happy to be new parents.

Update

Well I am now three days over my due date and no sign of baby yet. My appointment is Wed and the Dr will do an ultrasound and make sure everything is ok. Then he will induce me either wed night or thursday morning. So we will inform everyone when the little guy decides he wants to be here. For my sake I hope earlier rather than later. :)

Some Corrections

Brian says we have plenty of clothing for this child. He really has no idea how much clothing is needed for a baby. Luckily my family is throwing me a baby shower Sat the 22nd, (hopefully I still am pregnant for it). Thanks for all the love and support from family and friends and we can't wait to introduce you to our little boy soon!

The Final Countdown!

So here we are now into the first few weeks of January. Lerin is very pregnant, and ready to be done. We are both so very excited to have our little boy join our lives and are looking forward to him being here with us. We have spent the last few months gathering the necessities for raising a little boy. We have the stroller, the crib, the sheets and bedding, the little blue security blanket (a la "Linus van Pelt"), and plenty of clothing for now and later--Many thanks to friends and family!! Lerin even has a gliding rocker that I got her as a present for our aniversary (We were looking for another dresser for the house, but found this great deal on the rocker, it was great!). Just last week, we moved my desktop computer out of the baby's room and into the livingroom so that we have more space there and so I don't wake the baby. Robert keeps trying to get me to disclose any of the names that we are considering, but so far, no luck...he(and you)'ll have to wait 'til we actually have a baby in our arms.

As it may have been rumored, I do have a job as an early morning janitor on campus. It is a great job considering, but my one complaint is the early morning part--I don't like getting up at 3:30am. The work is good and the crew I'm working with is fun and a good group. This also gives me an opportunity to stay awake and prepare for the classes later that day.

I am now back into yet another semester here at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg. Still studying biology with a neuroscience emphasis--and taking physiology, histology, professional school preparation, and advanced neuroscience. I have finished my generals and all of my requirements for my chemistry minor, so there's a big step forward, but I'm also trying to decide whether I'll be waiting to graduate in December of this year rather than April in order to get a few more credits and take a basic EMT course and certification.

Well the last few months have just flown by. For halloween Brian and I dressed up as greek gods and went to our friends Chet and Karen's house we had so much playing games and eating food. This November we have just been boring going to school and I have been working. The baby is doing well growing fast and being very active. My birthday was on Thanksgiving this year which makes everything very exciting. I was very excited Brian got me a new camera that I have been wanting for awhile, and my mom took me shopping for some much needed maternity clothes. We spent Thanksgiving in Rigby with my family we had dinner at the church because we had such a big group this year. It was so much fun. This December we have both been busy finishing up school and getting our finals done. Christmas shopping is almost done. We are going to spend Christmas in Fruitland with the Christensen family.
This past weekend Brian and I traveled to Utah to spend some time with my sister Adrianne and her family. We went to temple square on Friday night. The night was perfect not too cold it was like 40 degrees. They walked me everywhere we walked from gateway mall to temple square and back. That is a lot of work for being seven and 1/2 months pregnant. Saturday we went shopping and then went on a double date that night with Annie and Collin it was our first experience at a Japanese restaurant with a cook right in front of us. I am not good at catching shrimp in my mouth Brian is good at it though. It was a great weekend and now to finish finals and enjoy the holidays. We love you all Merry Christmas!

This is me and baby at 26 weeks the time is flying by. Before you know it he will be here kinda scary but we are super excited. As for everything else we are both in school and just doing well. Life is crazy but we manage. I am getting very excited for the holidays coming up I love this time of year. We can't wait to see you all during this time. We love you all!!!

Brian and I are very excited about our new addition that is coming in January. We are expecting a baby boy on January 26, 2011 for those of you who don't know. We found out in May that I was pregnant, I wasn't sick for the first little bit and then things got worse :). I was sick for the first 3 1/2 months (at least I lost some weight first so I won't gain so much later). We had our first ultra sound july 21. Then we found out we were having a boy on Sept 8. I am very greatful to only be sick once in awhile now instead of everyday, I am happy to report that I am still in my regular clothes and hopefully will not need to wear them too soon. Thats about it for us in baby news. Now, on to other areas...

Brian and I both started back in school this fall with full schedules. Brian is taking 17 credits and working hard to graduate in April. We are hoping to have applications in to medical school this spring. Brian also took the MCAT Sept 2 but won't receive his score until Oct 5, we hope he did well. He also volunteers down in Idaho Falls at Mountain View Hospital, we will probably be having our baby there if all goes well. I will be graduating this sememster with my associates, and I am still working at curves. We'll see what happens next semester with the baby here if I still work or when I will work :).

We are looking forward to the next few months with family and friends. We love holidays and also our birthdays are coming up and Brian and I are both turing 25 this year. Its crazy! So, We love you all 'til next time.

Another Month Flies By

Well, another month has passed with nothing too exciting happening for us, but plenty of exciting stuff we've been involved in.

A few weeks ago, I started my internship here in Pocatello working in the Pharmacy department doing research with Dr. Downing. To date, it has been kind of slow because he's relatively new at ISU and we're just beginning his research here. I will likely fill everyone in in a few weeks when I have a little better understanding of what we're doing and what has been done.

Right now, Lerin is visiting her sister, Jen, and family in western Oregon, leaving me here by my lonesome, doing odd jobs around the house/farm when I'm not here in Poky, or reading for my online classes.

I'm taking two online classes this summer so that I can (hopefully) meet requirements for graduation next April. I'm taking Humanities in Western Culture and Teachings of the Living Prophets. I don't understand why most religion classes require more reading, time, and busy work than many of my 3- and 400 level science classes. We'll just say that I have LOTS of reading to do--but it's not bad...

Brian and I are both done with our winter semesters now and grades turned out great for both of us. Brian started his first summer semester with his first ever online classes. He is now getting a taste of what I have been doing for the last year. (not so easy huh?) We recently moved into my parents house to save some money for the summer and this way while Brian is gone all day to his internship in Poky I won't be alone. He has already been busy helping my dad with any jobs my dad can think of ;). So we are definitely earning our rent.
I am still working a curves taking on more hours now. It is also summer for the most part so time to get out the saddle and start my real work and start training horses. I have 2 horses that we have to finish their training. Then I get to start training my baby CJ she is so cute and is now 2 so I am able to start riding her. Brian also helps with the horses he is becoming quite the horseman himself. I appreciate all his help with everything. Thats about it for our family right now hopefully we get to see you all this summer!!!

Another Busy Week and Fun Weekend!

So this week, we spent relaxing. Lerin still has classes in the afternoon/evening, and I worked with Craig as a farmer--tilling, planting, rolling, etc. I even started working on my yearly farmer tan when I came home thursday night with slightly red arms and neck. It wasn't very severe, and I've since healed and am back to my usual self.

Our week was rather laid back, but our weekend got itself busy. I came home early friday night, so Lerin and I went to a session at the temple here in Rexburg. We had planned to attend the 6:45 session, but arrived a little late and waited until the 7:30 session where we served as the witness couple (a new experience for Lerin). It was good and we enjoyed our time together and in the temple--always a wonderful experience.

Saturday we spent the afternoon babysitting Andrew and Samantha while my sister Rachel coached her volleyball team at a meet up in St. Anthony. Robert had the day off and was also around helping occupy Connor's interests and sweet-tooth ("Thanks Grandpa Kurt!"). We had a good time once the twins were settled down and even got the chance to take Connor to Porter park to play on the playground, which he LOVED!

Speaking of sweet-tooths: I realized how much my dad has influenced my sweet-tooth this week when I was at the gas station, getting candy to keep me awake while on the tractor...I'm sure my siblings could make a guess at what I chose; and they would be right if they said twizzlers. I always remember those as one of dad's favorite candies to buy for road trips or just because. I just had to chuckle when I realized what I was doing and why. . . . . . Love Ya Dad!!!

Anyway, after Rachel came and retrieved her little ones, Lerin and I traveled down to Pocatello to attend our first-ever monster-truck show with our friends Chad, Amy, and their son Braxton. It was SO COOL!!! and SO LOUD!!! but we had a good time and took lots of pictures to prove that we were there. We also observed proof that it is indeed a redneck sport when we saw a 1 year old baby walking around by itself, wearing only a t-shirt, diaper, and socks. . . WOW!!

Crazy Week and Weekend.

The week started off by Jennifer, Chandler and Elise coming into town. Brian and I got to spend time with them which was so much fun we have missed them so much. Then by Thursday night most of the rest of the family had arrived in town. This was also Brian's last day of FINALS!!! He is so excited to have a break. He then starts his intership with the INBRE program in Pocatello May 25.

Friday morning was my cousin Rachelle's wedding. Congrates to her and Randy we are so excited for them! Luckly they had a sunny day becuase the weather had been nasty the couple of days before. Later that night we headed down to the Dodge finals Rodeo in poky. My family always go down to that rodeo my dad sit and chat critiquing on all the evens and what they did good or bad.

Saturday Brian and I spent the day cleaning our apartment. We headed down to my parents house and finished getting ready for the reception that night. It was so fun I got to see a lot of my old friends and then they had a dance. Everyone was dancing it was crazy and so much fun. Then Randy and Rachelle rode off on his motorcycle it was awesome. We then headed back to parent's house and play band hero with the family (we tend to get kinda loud). We also had a b-day party for Adrianne her birthday was on April 7. We missed Reynold on saturday it was his 40th birthday but he had to stay home and work. :(
Finally Sunday we had a BBQ at my parents house where we fed between 50 and 60 people. We also had a birthday party for Mitchell his 3rd birthday was actually on tuesday but we decied to celebrate becuase everyone was there. Then by monday everyone was gone it was so sad for everyone to leave. Can't wait for the next big get together.

So it's been a while since we've updated our blog and I figure it's my turn to tell the world and all of you how Lerin and I are doing. It is really amazing how fast 5 1/2 months flies by!!! We often wonder how the time can go so fast!

This last month has been a good month for us, outside of all of the troubles with my car, including (from the start of January): a new alternator, new fuel pump, electrical problems, and window problems. Fortunately, I am mechanically inclined and was able to fix everything by myself, saving us lots of money! We like saving money.

Well, we are both back in school now. Lerin is going to classes at the Idaho Falls ISU campus and is enjoying those. I am still up here in Rexburg everyday, and my classes are fun. Hard, but fun.

We spent this afternoon and evening down in Blackfoot with Rob, Whitney, Rach and Trav and the kids watching the superbowl. It was nice to see the Saints take the Colts in the end. Geaux Saints! Connor got his hair cut during halftime and then after the game we all played Band Hero and had a great time!

Well to update everyone on our past month Brian is busy going to school. He is taking some pretty tough classes in my opinion he is taking Organic chemistry, Biology, Physics, and a biology tech course I think? and then has a ton of labs to go along with them.
Then there is me I am still working at curves and looking for something different that has more hours and more pay. We all know how that can be right?
Our apartment is coming along well if we could just decide where to hang stuff on the walls we would be all finished and done. We were able to go down to Andrew & Sammy's blessings on sunday it was so great so see everyone that was able to make it since its been awhile since we have seen anyone. We love you all and hope to see you soon.

It's official...We're Married!!!

I know everyone is used to this being Brian's blog but he has now informed me that it is "our" blog. Today you get to have the story from Lerin with a bit of Brian thrown in here and there [It's called proofreading :-) ].
So it happened. We got married on the 21st of August in the Idaho Falls Temple. It was a perfect day, sunny with no wind. I know--Idaho and no wind?--crazy! We had two wonderful receptions the first in Rigby. It was everything I wanted it to be. Thanks to all my family for all the help. Brian planned [and pulled off] a very romantic evening down at the red lion hotel. Then it was on to Fruitland where my wonderful in-laws put together a great open house in their yard. I am so grateful for all the work they did. On Sunday morning we headed on our long drive to Sunset Beach, California. We stayed in a condo--it was so nice and just a block from the beach. Monday was just a lounge day and playing on the beach. Tuesday we were off to Disneyland--happiest place on earth. Wednesday was another beach day. Thursday we went to San Diego and went to the temple and then had dinner at Joe's Crab Shack: so good. I of course had crab and Brian had steak and shrimp. That night Brian took me to see Wicked the musical. It was amazing. then Friday we went back to Disneyland and California adventure. Then Saturday we headed for home.
We stayed at my sister's house in Orem We found out Sunday morning that my Grandfather Johnson passed away so we stayed til Monday and brought Annie and the kids to Idaho with us for the funeral on Wednesday. The honeymoon was great and I have an amazing husband that has been a wonderful support during this tough time in my family.
Thanks to everyone that helped with the wedding, it means so much to us that you got to share our wonderful day with us.

Lerin Came for a Visit!

So last weekend, Reynold, Char, Annie, and Lerin conspired against Jennifer in a suprise birthday party/weekend.

Thursday afternoon, Lerin, Craig, and Paula drove over to boise and met mom, dad, and I for dinner. While the four of them talked the whole time, Lerin and I just ate our dinners, happy to get to spend some time together, and making eyes and faces at eachother the whole time. After dinner Lerin and I went for a walk in the Boise rose gardens. (I honestly did not know about the city parks' curfew...apparently they don't like people in the parks after dark... :-) oops!)

Friday morning, Lerin flew to portland where she met up with Annie and Reynold. They successfully pulled off the big suprise when Char took Jen in for a pedicure that afternoon. (Apparently, they got the whole thing on tape too.) From what I was told, everyone had a great weekend, and Lerin even got a suprise when all three of Char's girls gave her a hug and kiss on Sunday, saying "Uncle Brian loves you." (Thanks Char!) :-) (They are so excited to have an "Aunt Lerin". They've been working on it for over 2 years now, they think it's so awesome.)

Lerin got back in Boise Sunday night and I picked her up at the airport and we just spent the rest of the evening and Monday morning together. We went to lunch, spent some more time in the rose gardens, and then said our goodbyes that afternoon when she picked up her car from Pat's house.

Otherwise, things are going well, I'm installing alarms in the Boise/Nampa area, making some pretty good money, but still managing to be suprised at how quickly it dissappears. Wedding plans are progressing, and I'm beginning some experience opportunities in preparation for medical school. I'm not sure if I will be able to meet the deadlines for taking the MCAT and submitting Med School Applications next spring/summer, but I will do my best, I'm just a little behind and stacked in the amount of courses I have to take before that time, but we'll see how things play out.

All-in-all...I think my life is pretty good!

So I finally did it! I proposed to Lerin on March 4th at 9:45 PM on the bench in Porter Park. I bought the ring that afternoon and had barely had it for 6 1/2 hours before I gave it to her. She said yes and we are starting the long road to our wedding day which we are planning for mid-August. She is so amazing and I am excited to spend the rest of my life with her in my arms.

A Few Minutes to Blog

So, it's been a few months since I blogged last and thought it about time to update you all about my latest goings on.

Since October, I have been through ALOT! The missionary that I was waiting for came home early because of knee injuries, and the girl that I was talking to at the time became my best friend. I ultimately had to choose between them, and thought I had made the right choice to see how things with the missionary panned out, which turned out to be short-lived when she decided after Thanksgiving that things between us would not work. I'll admit: I was heartbroken for about an hour and a half until I realized that, although I really wanted things to work out, I felt the same way. I already had a amazing friend who had been there for me. She was the one I wanted to talked to and constantly pushed me to be the best possible version of me.

My semester ended very well and I pulled away with 3 As and 3 A-minuses...much better than I was expecting. Before i started back to school after the thanksgiving break, I had been asked by my friend (who had moved to Oregon to work for her sister) to help her drive home after the semester ended so she could be home for Christmas. During the next two weeks, we talked nearly every night and learned more about each other as we asked questions during each call.

On Monday after the semester ended, I took a plane to Portland, had lunch with a friend from the mission, and waited to catch a train to Salem, where I met her brother-in-law who drove me the rest of the way to their house in Junction City. I was excited to spend time with her and her "kids" (niece and nephews) as well as my sister and her kids. We stayed through Wednesday morning, then got in her car and drove the 12 or 13 hours across the middle of Oregon. Stayed the night at my parent's house in Fruitland, Idaho, then sent her the rest of the way on to Rigby the next morning.

We talked through the Christmas holiday, and on through New Years. Her nephew, Chandler, had turned 8 in early December and was baptized on Jan. 3rd. She went with her parents and brother back to Oregon to be there for the baptism and on the way back, I met her in Boise to drive the rest of the way to Rexburg for school. We decided during our trip that we were just good friends, and would wait a while before becoming exclusive to each other.

We first met two years ago in January, and are now getting back together. So I decided to repeat our first date by going swimming at Green Canyon with her and some friends. We had a good time and some great fun. Later that night, she decided that it was time to get together officially and that's how it has been since then. I love spending time with her, even if we just spend the whole time doing nothing but talking and holding hands. She has become one of my best friends and we are both excited to see where this relationship will lead us.

Okay, so I had a good day before my birthday. One of my friends, Frances, threw me a birthday party tonight. It was fun and I had a good time. The theme was "Happy Birthday Charlie Brown!" because I like the comic strip so much. Like I said, I had a good time. Many thanks to all who came.

so, I'm back in Fruitland, working on the family farm. moving sprinkler pipe and doing all sorts of farm work.

Basically, i was promoted to lead tech and moved to Salem Oregon. so i packed up my stuff and moved to salem, spent the weekend with my family down in harrisburg, spent two days doing absolutely nothing, then got a call that the office was being closed down. that same day, i got a call from home that my brother had run his had through the gears on a wheel-line mover and mashed them up pretty badly.

so i packed up the next morning and headed home. where i am now. dale is doing much better, he has lost the middle finger on his right hand and we were worried about his ring finger there for a while, but we think now that it will carry through.

anyway, i'm just woking, sleeping, getting up early, and working some more. that's my life currently. take luck!

I'm still just staying busy here in Washington. Puyallup is a nice place. I'm just staying busy and safe. not much else to say. work on my car is progressing, I'm trying to fix the front end and put new tires and struts all around, a couple thousand by the end of things, but it'll be worth the hassle. most of the work won't be done 'til July at least, I'll probably wait 'til the end of summer, we'll see.
In other news, ......I don't know what else to talk about!

A Few Good Weeks

Well, I've been up here in the Tacoma/Seattle area for about 3 weeks now and haven't written anything. SO...I think it's time for me to fill you in. I am about an hour south of seattle in a little town called Puyallup. it's a fun place. and i'm staying busy. so...there's the fill in. if you have any questions about my "new life," just ask.

A Very Successful Semester!!!!

I just saw my final grade report from this last semester and I am SO HAPPY!!!! I got straight A's! Life is good. After i saw the report, I flew down the stairs and danced a little jig. Mom thought it was hilarious!! Everything paid off!
So these last few days have been good. I've been working with dad and the neighbor trying to get water on the grain crop. Over the winter our neighbor bought three wheel lines and now we are putting them together. Its a lot of work, but much easier than moving hand lines. Plus, Dale is the only boy left at home most of the summer and he hasn't always been the best at moving lines. but I suppose that he has gotten better over the years. he's a strange kid.
Well, I'll be here for a few more days before heading up to Seattle to install alarm systems for about five months. I'm starting to get things put together and figure out what I need to take with or leave behind. My car desperately needs a wash (and body work and paint job, and.....) so I'll probably do that today in the midst of work and a movie with the family. We'll see how things work out...

On the Road Home

Hey all, I had a great time driving home from Rexburg on Friday afternoon. after clean-checks, i grabbed lunch and started out. i stopped in Chubbuck to visit my sister, Rachel, and my nephew Connor, he is such a cool kid!! Anyway, after visiting with them for about 30 minutes, i drove off into the setting sun and took some pretty cool pictures on the way. I'm way proud of myself for being ready, 'cause usually my camera has no battery life left to take pictures or even look at the ones i have taken. So...here they are, some wicked cool, Western-Idaho sunsets.

So, this is my first experience blogging. I figure, it's worked for others, it's about time for me to get started as well. Just a bit about my current situation: I've just finished my third semester here at BYU-Idaho and am very pleased with how things have turned out. My plans at this point...I'm gonna go home, spend just over a week with the Fam and then move up to the Seattle area to install alarm systems for Pinnacle Security. It worked well for me last year, so i thought I'd try it again and actually come away with some real money to show for it instead of spending it all in the course of a summer. I'll be at that for about five months, then I'll be coming back to college here in Rexburg. I am really excited for the summer and all that comes with it. SO...HERE GOES!!!!
